Leupold scopes love or hate em?

Ever use a vx3hd?

No. But my SIL has a couple. No issues so far. I also have a couple Sightron scopes. Way overlooked. mtmuley

Steady rest off of the bench with a few different loads with no scope corrections or adjustments. That will give you a little clearer picture of what is going on.

To your point, 140 Bergers VLD hunting, 145ELDX, 130 federal blue box, and these 150 flat bases all shoot about the same. 2 1/4 to 2 1/2 ten shot groups from this rifle. The targets are here in my notebook.

We shot 130 nosler balistic tips, 130 hornady interlocks, 130 corelokts, and 130 federal premium partitions in 90’s and early 2000’s. I don’t have those targets, but I’ll bet they would all shoot very similar 10 shot groups.

My concern was not so much the large group size, but that it appears to have shifted 3” left for no apparent reason.

Maybe I'm lucky but all my VX-2's are solid. One even living on top of a RUM for 25 years. But they are older versions. One of them I had to have the Custom Shop add a MOA turret. I keep my eyes out for older used ones. mtmuley

The newer models are more of the problem children but some of the older ones had issues too. Just a confidence thing for me. The vx3 3.5-10x40 is a favorite scope of mine. Just wish I could trust it. Also a great kids scope with its generous eye relief

The vx3 3.5-10x40 really is a nice scope. We have several on rifles. So far they seem to shoot ok. We just have not shot and used them as hard as a few other scopes that we have.

I don’t know what my deal is, my eyes have just never liked leuopld glass. I know they’re fine scopes, just not my preference

I shot one yesterday that wouldn’t track with adjustments. Very frustrating and eventually it gets there but I hate that scope.

I have had great luck with Leupold rifle scopes. For a hunting scope I think they are great. I won’t say they are the best on the planet but for the price range a very solid scope. Plus they have been good to me with warranty on a couple of old gloss gold rings that are over 25 years old.

If you are doing competition or a bunch of target shooting turning turrets a constantly I’d look at a Nightforce or comparable glass. Otherwise I think a Leupold is hard to beat.

My dad is the same way. He’s never adjusted a scope while hunting and can’t imagine any reason why someone would want to.

We also shoot silhouette matches. Adjustment is a must for those matches. Anymore whenever I set a rifle up, it’s dual purpose unless it’s a magnum. Belted magnums are not permitted for those matches.

I just did a quick count of empty boxes. There's 8 of them. I keep them in case I ever send on back. I sent in one for a bad focus and got it back completely cleaned, focused, and nice and shiny. It took about 3 weeks.
