Its one of those damned Californian transplants is what it is!

Golden trout - native to the high Sierras in Cali but stocked at some point in the past into some of Montana's high alpine lakes.

This shad actually managed to get hooked on a crankbait, but he got loose before I could get that picture.

I think my son was five when he reeled in this monster. Certainly a bold little trout considering the spinner and swivel are about as long as the fish is.

I also saw an article recently about microfishing. Check it out. They intentionally fish for minnows.

I do love the little ones. Give me my little 2 weight, 3 or 4 flies and miles of some small backcountry creek no one's ever heard of... That's the best.
