Many years ago I was out on a hike in a local hunting area. I think it was Jan. 9th, or maybe earlier. Came across a skeleton of a blacktail that was about the size of a spike elk (you had to see it). The antlers had been shed. I spent two years trying to find the sheds, but never did.
Another time I found a skeleton almost as big while out hunting. This time the antlers were intact and I recognized the deer as being the biggest one I'd seen all summer while scouting the area. They went 19 5/8" wide.
Elk was found around Seeley, not sure if it was gut shot or what, all meat seemed to be intact. Sheep was in Upper Rock Creek, I assume his death had something to do with the chunk out of the back of his drivers side horn.
