i dont know if the other guys going with me have ever hunted in alaska but maybe some of you guys who live their or hunt their often can shed some light on what we may need up there that might not be nessacary in other places. i understand it rains alot there so i am guessing at least 2 sets of raingear but what else would you suggest.

I read your post on this subject down below. Since you'll be based off a large boat, your rain gear should dry each night. Usually (since I don't know the exact boat, but still would like to know) the diesel powered generator will be run all night long, or at least till everyone goes to sleep. That'll keep the engine room quite toasty, and gear dries off fairly quickly in that situation. Ask if he has a washer and dryer onboard, many boats do, you'd be suprised. It would cut back on your packing, if you knew you could do laundry every couple days.
Since hunting deer means climbing up high, your either going to be wet from sweat, or rain. I like a quality gor-tex (even if it won't breath, or barely does) rain coat and non-breathing rain pants. For the pants, I like Helly Hansen Impertech bibs. They're lightweight and very stretchy and the suspenders keep the pants up better than a waistband. Like always, you'll want lightweight fleece under the raingear with a thicker jacket in your pack for when things slow down (except the wind, which will pick up) when you reach the tops of the hills.
One tricky spot, is getting out of the raft without stepping into the water over your boots. It would be good to take a pair of tall rubber boots for riding in the raft to shore, then switching to a good pair of hiking boots for hunting. Just leave the other pair at the beach for the ride back. In fact it never hurts to leave some supplies at the beach, just in case the transporter doesn't make it back. But, he may look at ya funny for suggesting such a thing.

Thanks B-dub! The breathable top and a 100% otter-like waterproof bottoms is what Barsness recommends for caribou as well. I think I've got jacket already, so I'll look into the Impertech stuff.
