Howdy, just found this place.

Here is my first CA bird from public land her in CA. I am a relocated Georgia boy and just now getting into turkeys. Have hunted other stuff here for the 9 years I have been here.

Nice "yard bird" as we used to call them in SLO. Damn things were as thick as flies in places.

I'm a CA ex-pat....many years of "Welcome to California, now go home!" didn't work.
I left and it appears the best overall big game to hunt state 20 yrs ago IMHO,is toast these days.

How in the world did you leave GA and then get into turkey hunting? I've hunted deer a few times while visiting family in GA and have never seen so many turkeys. Of course they don't have a fall season so I just cursed all the birds instead of tagging one. Nice bird, there's quite a fee guys on here from CA, welcome. We need more SEC fans on here anyway.

Nice. What part of Georgia were you from, and I cant belive you never got into turkey hunting in GA.

I cursed turkeys growing up. I never really hunted any birds besides doves after football practice in the fall. The good old days with my 870 wingmaster express between the driver seat and console in my old Bronco II.

Same with ducks, my uncle had an amazing property with a 2AC pond full of woodducks and eventually mallards, but I was more interested in the deer.

I went out Saturday looking to get my second turkey before the season closed but they were well hidden, did a 5 mile loop and then started looking for ducks.

I grew up in Sumter County GA.
