In your opinion what 3-5 rifle calibers are best for Mule Deer?

I'll be honest - I thought the same thing with the caliber/cartridge thing when I first read the question. I just wasn't going to be 'that guy' about it. Here are what I would vote:

.25-06
.257 wby
.270 win
6.8 western
7mm-08

I only own one of these cartridges (7mm-08). I 'need' to own all of them, but the ones I want the most are the .25-06 and the .270. I have a thing for the older cartridges even though I really appreciate the newer ones and own a 7prc (which almost made the list). I've always wanted a .25-06 and the .270 is too classic and perfect in a lot of ways to not have.

If past 300 yards means 300-400 I would say something similar to a 257 wby. If it’s 300-600 7stw-like cartridges. 300-1000 probably 338 lapua. Beyond that maybe one of those one way attack drones. I’ve shot a few at 400-475 and 25-06, 270, and 300 wsm were all very effective but the ones at 80-150 yards were a lot funner.

45-70. anything closer than 300, its a 100 grain broadhead. i'm the man your wife's boyfriend wishes he was.
