In Tahoe on Sept 11 for business....need ideas to kill a few hours

I will be in RNO/Tahoe on Sept. 11 and am looking for a few ways to maximize my free time that afternoon. I am staying in the Harrah's Casino in Lake Tahoe and would like to get out on a trail or to a shooting range. Anyone here have any suggestions?

There is a nice short hike from the West shore of Tahoe to Eagle lake in the Desolation Wilderness. It can be crowded, but likely not as bad after labor day.
