In a stroke of luck, my meeting for September 11 got rescheduled which means I can fly from a work meeting in Fort Lauderdale to Salt Lake City, where I will meet my 83 year old Father to accompany him on his Wyoming Antelope hunt East of Farson that starts Sept 12.

That means I need to kill some time in SLC between 6:00 pm on September 11 and 8 am on September 12. I'm looking for inventive and unique ideas that avoid having to pay for a hotel room, because, well it's a challenge....

What suggestions you got?

Not much help but I would NOT recommend sleeping in the rental car facility. When my son had his Utah youth elk tag we flew in there in August to scout and our flight got delayed past when the rent car place was open. We elected just to spend the night there and get the rent car first thing in the morning. The dude on the Zamboni floor cleaning machine got great joy out of waiting until we fell asleep and then driving it right next to us. Should have gotten a shuttle to an airport hotel.

That might be my recommendation, just eat a nice dinner, get a hotel and sleep.

Take off at 6, haul ass for Oregon buttes

Sleep in the truck, start hunting at first light.

I have 20 acres of pine trees in the duchesne area that you can go and check on my game cameras for me.

Find the nearest 24 hour wal mart. Grab a cart. Go find pillows and a blanket. Head for the TP/Paper towel aisle. Find a spot on the bottom shelf and put your pillow and blanket down there. Move packages of jumbo paper towel or tp in front of you to conceal yourself. Enjoy your nap.

I have a friend who has done this and nobody ever noticed.

I'd goto antelope island to look around in the evening and find some blm west/sw of slc to stargaze and sleep on.

Otherwise seems you have ample time to take an upper decker at Mike Lees office.
