You can double check to make sure I didn't screw this up, but.. I just went online and looked at OR non-res license/tag fees and it looks like if I wanted or could afford to hunt the area our cabin is at (OR) that it would cost me $160.50 for license, $414 deer tag, $549 elk tag. So it appears that Idaho non-resident fees are right in line with OR are they not?

Resident hunting can result in lower cost meat in the freezer but once you cross that state line headed into non-residency the result is usually closer to a pricey vacation than a discount grocery trip. Add up time away from work, travel costs, baggage fees if fly, tags, wear and tear on gear, maybe a guide or access to private land, lodging and food and perhaps taxidermy and taking care of the meat if did not end up a tag soup adventure. Add up the costs including the tag soup adventures and then consider the amount of meat harvested then the cost per pound is most likely above both live lobster and prime rib roast.

Hunting as a non-resident is expensive unless are staying with family or friends or can drive a couple of hours to day hunt just over the state line. I sometimes head home to hunt whitetail and stay with family and they pick me up at the airport so no rental car and eat most of the meals around the family table. I can hunt on family property then process the meat around the kitchen counter. Non-resident hunting does not get much easier and I also get to see family and childhood friends. Is still expensive meat.

NRs need to start considering the impact of the proposed Auction tag funding model on NR draw odds. Senator Bair seems to think auction tags can generate $3.5 million to $7.0 million dollars. My estimate is this will require between 500 and 1,000 auction tags. All of these tags will come from the NR pool.

Oregon is highly not recommended, oregons prices and poor management are a joke for what you get as a non-resident,,,Idaho as ive stated is about middle of the line in my opinion for pricing...things always boil down to money or lack of.

can someone put senator bairs contacts up here so people can message him about his proposed ideas,,both Idaho residents and non-residents alike?
