We are following this one close here in South La. Not supposed to come here, but they keep changing the projected track. Looks like it is getting closer to us. Prayers that it will magically head North and not bother anyone in the U.S.
That's what I'm really hoping. Or at least impact a less populated portion of the state.

Hope it turns more towards the east and stays off shore. We had enough of hurricanes here in NC last year.

I’m glad I don’t have to worry about hurricanes anymore. Katrina came right over the top of us. We were without power for 10 days in August!

Hurricane food! I just pulled out of Wilmington headed back home away from the coast today. Was down for a few days with the family. Looks like no rain here in the morning so dove opener it is.

My elk hunting buddy lives maybe 50 miles from the coast of NC, and he was flooded out last September with, I believe, Florence. That messed up our MT plans, which he stayed home and I drove 2400 miles one way by myself. I'm hoping and praying that this hurricane doesn't affect him again like last year's. They just got their house back in order 3 weeks ago...from last year's storm! We're planning to head to MT on the 18th. Fingers crossed that it goes out to sea!

Amen to that! Right now they are projecting that it stays off the coast but will remain a major hurricane (category 3 or higher) until sometime along Georgia and then a lower level hurricane further up the coast.
I'm also heading out of the 18th and am hoping this doesn't leave my house a mess where I feel guilty leaving my wife or have to cancel.
Thursday evening I watched several convoys totaling 32 trucks from Hydro Quebec, cross the border headed south. Bucket trucks, digger trucks, and support vehicles traveling south to stage and prepare to help with storm damage. I am certain those trucks are only a few of the workers being deployed from Quebec. Our northern neighbors are on the way !!
Hurricane food indeed! Plus 2019 elk hunt food. Bringing game from a prior successful hunt has to be good luck right?

Woke up this morning at 4:45am pretty jacked up about the storm. I used to chase them with the FLNG and I still get into mental prep mode to go deal with the aftermath. Talking with my NG buddies still in the game they are stood up and just waiting for the target. Of all the things I did in my different times and places in the Army I never thought I would miss the storm support aspect of the National Guard. But I do. Something about helping the people I actually care about (those living in my state or neighboring states) just means a lot more then the time I spent in the sandbox. Everyone on the East Coast needs to take this storm very serious. Me and my family live prepared for Hurricanes, but so many don't even have the bare necessities....do be like those people!
