Hunter Fatality

That poor guy and his family, through no apparent fault of his own he loses his life, tragic.
Surely that must be very rare isn't it?
Perhaps the guilty party has never heard of a safe back stop.

I'm of the opinion that there are no such things as hunting or shooting accidents, only stupid people doing stupid things while hunting or shooting.

friggin ridiculous something like this would even happen. I seriously doubt is was a "stray" either. I think there are enough stupid people out there packing a rifle that someone probably got excited and shot not knowing their target. Seems odd that a "stray" would hit him right in the chest......obviously, there is always a chance, but I suspect thats not the case. I hope they put some effort into digging more into it. I suspect that over time, if someone shot by accident and then realized it, will not be able to live with the guilt forever.........

Man, hate when stuff like this happens...

Yep, terrible. I'd be curious if they found the bullet. The approximate velocity would pretty much tell authorities how "accidental" it was.

I was down in tha part of the state with my son on the opener and could not believe the number of people. We were sitting on this big meadow/hillside and had about 6 different guys doing the same thing. Just at light one of them decides to walk along the opposite side of the meadow paralleling all of us sitting there. I'm thinking even if an elk comes through we can't shoot with this clown walking in front of us. I really did fear of some stray bullets as the shooting started.
Counted 73 camp trailers and wall tents along one of the major roads:eek: One guy called it "mini Butte" He said that it usually attracts the majority of Butte hunters.

Sad deal and I feel for the family.

that's awful... i'm sure it was an accident, but there is NO WAY it was an unpreventable accident!

I have a hard time believing it was anything exept murder, I think thats the more likely explaination.

wow

Like was said earlier,... what about being sure of your backstop! Just a few weeks ago I spent a weeknd in a hunters safety class with my girlfriend and my 2 daughters. This was a big topic of discussion. (shooting over the crest of a hill) . the very next week, I have the Outdoor channel on my tv, and the "tecomate" hunting show is on. The main host, can't remember his name, is hunting Mule deer. Early in the show, episode 8, he talks of other hunters in the area. Near the end of the show they show him shooting a mule deer off the top of a ridge. It about made me sick! I rarely if ever write compnaies or people to complain about things, but I hopped on their website and wrote them about it, and asked them to use better judgement and also not to air such wreckless use of a firearm for others to see. (i got no reply) The odds of hitting someone may be a million to one or more, but just like winning the lottery,... it does happen. So sad for the person and family on the other end!
