HSUS in partnership with Idaho Sportsmen's Caucus

So my understanding would be that the "breeding stock" you sell would then be used by others in producing other elk for their canned hunt operations, correct? So, just because you say you don't "harvest" your elk in any way, you are still serving the industry that gives anti-hunters proof that they are correct in their dislike of hunting and hunters.

Any state that allows import of domestic cervidae can purchase domestic elk from other states. States also have laws on testing requirements. These same states don't always have requirements on wild cervidae transports, and all vary. You have to look up each states laws individually to see what those requirements are.

Let me get this straight, you are engaged in a commerical operation that you don't understand the market for your product (breeding stock elk) and you are asking me to look up potential states for sale of your product?

If I was to tell you that many states don't allow the importation of pet elk into their state, and that Idaho is looking to ban the raising of pet elk, would you be concerned with your business fortunes or would you be more concerned with potential loss of hunting opportunities as a result of the "divide and conquer" tactics?

I did not ask you to look up anything for me. My potential market is in states that currently allow imports, is in Idaho as well as Canada. Of course I'm concerned with the future of my business as anyone with a business is concerned with it's future all the time. Which/whose 'hunting opportunities' would you be referring to?

I would have guessed you would have looked into potential states you can sell your pet elk into before you invested in buying the breeding stock. That doesn't make much sense to me, but maybe your Business Plan wasn't completed, yet?

Just so I can understand where you are coming from, are you concerend with HSUS and their "divide and conquer" tactics of them eliminating "shooter bull" operations on pet elk or are you more concerned with HSUS and Idaho Hunters teaming together to shut down an industry that you are a member of, that is outlawed in neighboring states, and one that you haven't looked into potential customers?

What do you think your potential customers are gonna do with the pet elk you sell them?

Jeeze, I step out for awhile and you guys take off...

You don't seem to be considering poaching, and other things that have affected the future of hunting and images the public has of hunting?

You might check the Idaho Code, but I am pretty sure you will find that Poaching is illegal. And, like poaching, when there are attacks on hunting like elk farms and canned hunting, we must get the legislature to set laws to end poaching, elk farming, and similar activities.

How does shooting pet elk imporve the future of hunting and images the public has of hunting?

Hey IdahoWatusi,
Uhhhhh ohhhhhhhh, you are gonna be mad now....

I just found another Board/Forum http://www.huntingnet.com/forum/tm.aspx?m=1937745&mpage=1&key=&#1937745 where some guy called "FriendofNRA" is posting about this very same topic. He has even gone so far as to link to YOUR picture of the HSUS banner, and even worse, this "FriendofNRA" seems to be exploiting children because his little picture by his post shows a picture of a kid petting a tame elk. Here is the picture....

And of all the ironies, it seems like "FriendofNRA" was out editing his post last night at 1:48am.... just about the same time you got done editing your first post here.

Kind of creepy.....

I never said high fence hunting "improves the future of hunting and images the public has of hunting." It isn't illegal to pay to shoot farm raised pheasant and chuckar from a cage and this has the same 'effects' on hunting rights, you're not attacking that?

Can you please explain how shooting pheasants and chuckar is the same as High Fenced hunts? I would really like to understand that idea. I don't hunt on either high fenced ranchers or game bird shooting preserves but there is a pretty big difference between the two.

IdahoWatusi,

This is really wild...... Another board has a post of "FriendofNRA" http://www.thunderbucks.com/cgi-bin/forum/Blah.pl?m-1169154031/s-0/ and it claims
HSUS has infiltrated hunting in Idaho. The Idaho Sportsmen’s Caucus Advisory Council (ISCAC) claims to represent Idaho hunters and protect our hunting heritage, yet are partnered with one of the largest anti-hunting groups in the world. I feel it is important for sportsmen to know when groups who 'represent' them are tied to the Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) who adamately oppose all hunting.

It is bad mis-information that old FriendofNRA is spreading on these boards using the same picture you are posting on this one.

I wonder how stupid FriendofNRA is to think that ISCAC is partnering with HSUS. If one goes to ISCAC's website, you will clearly see the HSUS is not a member of their caucus.

What could ever motivate FriendofNRA to go around spreading mis-information?

And in another bizarre happening, the picture from the first forum where FriendofNRA was posting, with the child and the pet elk, has now became a RedX just like the earlier pictures of the tame elk with the eartags from the MillerElkFarm album.

For one thing pheasants and chukars don't have a negative affect on wild bird populations.
There might be a biologist or two who've studied mountain quail that may disagree. Some seem to think the chukar is out competing mountain quail and even in areas that haven't had large acreages converted to cheatgrass. FYI...

Gosh, it is hard to keep links to pictures in this post good.... And sometimes the re-editing of people's posts makes it hard to seewhat the discussion is...

In any event, here is a picture of Elk off of one of the Idaho Elk farms....

Wouldn't have to waste much time trimming fat off them.....

okay, well I sure wouldn't doubt that, but I'm guessing chukar are here to stay, and we couldn't eliminate them even if we wanted to. Now domestic elk, on the other hand, CAN be eliminated from this country, especially if sportsmen and anti-hunting organizations work together to get this done, right IdahoWap?

I do my best to eliminate those dang chukars! They are the spawn of Satan and they taste good too! :D
