here in my area. We picked up 3 major areas to hunt this year in neighborhoods where one hunting group turned into trophy hunters and are not killing does. Plus I'm talking with the management of our County airport where the same thing is happening with the hunters. I am hoping that these other hunters get there act together and I do not have to come in there. That place will need constant coverage. Hunting is starting to seem more like a job around home. Thanks God I have 4 farms in Va I can just plan ol hunt. LOL

My son and 3 of his friends are hammering deer right now. But there are still 4 farms that have not been hunted and about a dozen back yards that have not been hunted in the county but I picked up a few more friends to hunt them. I pulled in 6 hunters I've hunted with over the years so hopefully we will cover these other properties a few times each month.

Funny it seems that every estimate I go on where an abundance of deer are and if I say anything about bow hunting the customer says "We love Bowhunters"

Maybe I should keep my big mouth shut ! But how many hunters do you know who can not stop talking about hunting when the opportunity is presented LOL

I hate to say this... but one thing I miss about living on the east coast is the "gopher shoot" deer hunts. I'm not too proud to put em on the ground. The hard part was finding people to give them too.

Hmm...what state? Don't know if I could swing it this year, but if the invite is open again next year, I'd be up for a road trip to arrow a few deer.

I'm not too proud either...

I'm in the wrong state. Most of my crew are meat hunters only and cant hardly find a spot to go. Even with my 10 yr old son I was only able to gain access to one parcel of property that is only 10 acres in size. The surrounding properties are also being hunted. Wish I didnt live in the Minneapolis metro - too hard to get access to hunt and the public land near me is not only overhunted but can be dangerous!

I lived 1/4 mile from Ravens Stadium, and 1/2 mile from Camden Yard... Pretty metro area.

Pretty sure if you took the population in a 50 mile radius of where Dave lives it would probably be 2x that of the state of MN. Just say'n. He's got plenty of competition as well.

Find locations that have lots of deer and start knocking on doors. Small farms (10acres or less) and subdivisions with 1-4acre lots are the BEST places to hunt because its not hunted and they're used to people. Talk with co-workers, and friends who are not hunters, but don't mind hunting. I didn't know anyone when I moved to MD and by the time I left had more places to hunt than I had time to go. You'll get lots of no's and a few go F yourself, but make sure to offer up some meat. Offer to help out with chores, take their kids if they want to see what you're doing, etc.

The hardest part is getting the courage to knock on those doors. I'ts usually pretty easy to find someone to go with you once you find a place.

Making jerky and sharing it with non-hunters is also a great convo starter. They'll want more, and its easy to say, "I'd love to make more but need to find a place to hunt".

Bam sorry your missing out. One thing Bam left out is the population of deer per sq mile in my area is any where from 250_300 . I've had hunters come in from S.C., Me. Mich, and other areas some really enjoy hunting the public lands . Their larger areas to cover and still just as many deer.
