Is anyone, besides, me having serious issues, signing in on Hotmail?

I had issues a couple of months ago. Everytime I logged on, my computer locked up. The only way I got it fixed was to reformat my computer. I'm guessing virus of some kind. I heard from many who gave me ideas on virus scanners and such. Nothing else seemed to work though.
