This is the stupidest thing I have ever done. 12 of us are going white water rafting on the upper Gauley in West Virgina tomarrow and 9 of us have never been in a raft before.
My wife who bailed out on the trip say's "she has never been more mad at me than she is now. I"m always coming up with these hairbrain schemes without checking things out or thinking it through."

She's right this time.
I just hope nobody gets hurt.

Rafting trips are actually pretty cool. I went a few years back and thought going in that it was going to suck hind tit but I was actually impressed with how the whole thing turned out.

You only need one or two guys that know wha they are doing an then listen to them and Don't do anything radical !!!! Should turn out fine. I'm hooked on Floating. My first big one was Hells canyon and did that a couple times then next Spring we're floating down the Owyhee. Names don't mean much to you probably but it's good stuff !!!!!

I'm back and my wife is in the emergency room waiting to get my daughters ankle x rayed. It happened right after the trip! She twisted it walking back to the cabin. We don't think it's broke but want to make sure.

Twenty five or thirty years ago I'd be back before they stopped releasing the water for another trip. I'm glad I did it and it was something I will never forget but probably will never do again. We were lucky not to get hurt.
I'll post some pics when I get them.

I got hooked on the rafting thing on the colorado in southern utah as a boy scout at about age 14....I've gone every time I've gotten a chance since. I'm glad you had a good time, and hope the daughter is ok.

Well here are some pics finally. They are all pics of my friends. The guide is Chuck from Idaho. My friends girl said she would buy all the pic's and DVD and copy it for everybody. They were 50.00 bucks each so being the bambistew cheap bastard I am, I said sure. She never did do it so I got them off her last week and my son is doing it. And guess what? She didn't buy our boat pics. Oh well, they weren't that good anyway. The DVD is cool!

That's a major looking raft trip. Glad you had helmets, but I don't know, hitting one of the rocks and being underwater with that kind of current, how could you survive that if it happened? Did they tell any stories like that?
