If I had a grandson getting close to hunting age...... ;)

Might work on the dinky-ass rat deer near the corn-flingers....

Academy Sports & Outdoor: Savage-Stevens 200, 7-08 and .270 => $176 bucks

I missed this when it started some time in Febuary, but Academy is clearing out its stock of Stevens 200's for $176. They have an MSRP of $414, and you can normally find them online from a place like Bud's for $300-320.

Academy purchased a ton of them in 7-08 and .270 for their Black Friday sales, where they were running around $250. I don't know about the other stores in Austin (or other places where there are Academy stores; it should be a chain wide price drop), but the one on 183 had three .270 long actions left (2 NIB, 1 display) as of yesterday afternoon; may be worth calling around.

The Stevens 200 is basically the old Savage 10/110 centerfeed, only without the AccuTrigger or AccuStock. It's a real popular platform for gun builds due to the easy change barrels and a good aftermarket.

Funny, I've been mulling a Rem Model Seven in a rat deer caliber for Kolter lately.

BTW, that Stevens price only fetches seventeen 50 lb. bags of corn these days.

....lunchbreak at anger management today?
