Help please! F150 ignition issue

There is a plastic rod that runs from the tumbler through the steering column that can break and cause this very issue. It can also break and allow the key to turn completely and no crank. I have pulled down the ignition block (white rectangular thing with wires) which removes the plastic rod out of the picture and turned the key to start and pressed the rod on the ignition block (white plastic thing with wires) and started the truck. The plastic rod is like 12 dollars....the labor is 20 times that!! It is a pain to replace on your own. My daughter has been driving it this way until I find time to replace it. PM me if you have any questions.
