Hi all!

I’m a graduating Montana State University senior working on my capstone project, and I’m conducting a short survey on how social media may be contributing to hunter crowding and negative impacts to wildlife on public lands.

Here is the link: https://montana.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_beGxfjgaZQuAU50

Anyone who has hunted in Montana is welcome to participate! I’m working in conjunction with The Wildlife Society to better understand how we can adapt management strategies in this new age of social media. This survey is completely anonymous, and the results will help inform future public land management efforts in southwest Montana, specifically in and around the Hyalite WSA.

I’d greatly appreciate your participation! The survey should only take about 10 minutes. Your input and experience matters and will help advise the future of public lands!

Thank you!

Shouldn’t have to answer some of the wsa questions when they didn’t apply.
I found it funny taking a survey about social media causing pressure and having to answer a bunch of questions on a WMA I’ve never heard of. I’ll be curious to see the results hope they get posted back up

Hi! Thank you for the feedback. I would like to assure you that all questions about the Hyalite WSA where there wasn't an answer available similar to "I don't hunt here" was applicable to the outcome of the survey. All other questions included "no" options if the answers were not applicable to you. There is additional statistical analysis programing that I have built into the survey that if "I have never heard of the wsa" was selected, the following answers are weighted much differently if the latter was selected. Some folks have heard of it, but do not hunt it due to perceived crowding, and I wanted to leave adequate space to accommodate that experience as well! Hope this helps, please let me know if you have any more questions.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. The reason why the Hyalite WSA is addressed in the survey is because I am working in conjunction with the Wildlife society addressing recreational impacts within the Hyalite-porcupine area. There is a much broader project at hand here involving multiple other researchers, and this is just my bit of it! The wildlife society advised me to branch out past just the WSA, as they were equally interested in statewide results, but wanted to collect some data for the WSA as well. This is why "I have never heard of the wsa" options are included, which are statistically weighed within the survey programing to separate individuals associated with the wsa and those who are not! Hope this helps! Let me know if you have any additional questions:)

Thanks for your work I wasn’t trying to be negative towards your efforts

I took a lot of time on that. I left lengthy answers and heartfelt feedback. It took me quite a bit of time, actually.
I look forward to seeing the overall analysis sometime in the future….
