So........I know there are a few of us on the web site that have had some serious heart issues. My question is what was the highest heart rate that you experienced? Just kind of curious, the max heart rate for the human is 220 bum minus your age. So what say ye?

Never paid attention to my heart rate resting or full workout but i know it will never be as high as when the bull bugled 2 feet behind the tree i was hiding behind. I thought it was going to explode out of me.

I do believe mine was once higher than 220 using the thumb checker at a gym once. I also have the kind that wraps around your chest and hit above 200 one time doing P90X, I also lost complete hearing for a few seconds :D Seriously, I thought I was going to die the first time.

My mom is in A fib all the time and she gets some jacked up numbers. Her blood pressure has been crazy lately too, like 205 over 110. She's had several surgeries and a couple of devices in heart as well. She can't seem to find any relief.

I was working in Edgerton, Wyoming when my aortic valve went out. When I got to the ambulance my heart rate was 288 bpm. Yes that's right 288. After the helicopter got me to the hospital in Casper the nurse said that I had the highest heart rate that he had ever seen on a person that was still conscious.

Everyone's max heart rate is an individual thing. The old 220 minus your age is just a general rule of thumb. Based on the formula my max HR would be 220 - 44 = 176, but I wear a heart rate monitor when running and I've gotten it to 194 as my max sprinting at the end of a race. I routinely go over 176 during races. I train at a much lower rate normally though.
