Gut punch - September caribou hunt cancelled

Good luck with a crappy situation. Getting 75% of your deposit back is honestly amazing and I hope you get the rest. I was afraid youd lose it all when I started your post. I hate crap like this and the fact with hunt prices increasing, more bad actors coming out of the woodworks. Ill be up in Fairbanks in September, love to have a beer of our paths cross.
What dates will you be up there?

I have tried to get in contact with my booking agent at Outdoors International multiple times since this went down. I’ve made multiple calls, left a voicemail, and sent text messages. I’ve gotten nothing but radio silence. Next week I’m probably going to start bombarding their social media with details of this event. If I find myself at a sportsmen’s show in the future where they are exhibiting, I’ll definitely “hang around their booth” for awhile.
Ask for their cut of the booking fee reimbursed too.

Funny thought I'd make an inquiry through their website. Fairly quick response telling me they are booking for 26 and 27 seasons. $7500 for a trip. What a bunch of fraudsters. Those two should be shut down permanently and be sent to prison again for fraud. I suspect the language in their contracts is enough to prevent that.

I got an email from my transporter this morning that he is canceling all of his hunts out of Fairbanks this year. I originally found out about this transporter from a member’s positive review of his trip on this forum a few years ago, so I wanted to warn others here who might consider using Arctic Air/Unguided Alaska in the future - DON’T DO IT!

The company is not even refunding all of my money, which is ridiculous in my opinion since this is not a weather-related cancellation or other issue, but just a failure of being able to provide flying services.

I’m going to hopefully try to salvage the trip since tags, airfare, hotels have already been purchased, but I think it’s a long shot. If anyone has any leads on transporters or aviation services for the first 2 weeks of September I would be grateful.
we just heard it this through a hunter that received the same call. We are providing transportation services for Caribou hunters if needed. Contact me at [email protected] if you need to get into the field and feel free to share info. Thank you

UPDATE: After countless phone calls, texts, and emails Arctic Air finally agreed to refund all of the money that I paid them. The check came yesterday and I deposited it immediately. It thankfully cleared. Thanks to everyone here for all of the suggestions - it was very helpful to convince Arctic Air to give a full refund.

In other good news, we were able to book a replacement transporter. The transportation will be an airboat instead of an airplane and we are hunting the North Slope instead of the southern Brooks Range. My hunting partner and I are ecstatic that we are going hunting after being down in the dumps for a week.

Thank you to everyone who made suggestions or gave advice.
