Gun Porn Wednesday

Neat! I like putting AR's together much more than shooting them. Often contemplated trading it all in and going to gunsmithing school so I could remain poor.

Do you put a caliber or other designation on it?

Best not to put the caliber because you can swap lowers to many different uppers of different caliber. The caliber should be on the upper. I have more uppers than lowers so I just grab a lower and push in the 2 take down pins and go

I guess the rules are different with an 80% gun. I've always thought the lower had to be designated as a multi-caliber, single caliber as well as rifle or pistol.

Great. Now I have the urge to build another AR. ;)

I plan to pick up an 80% soon. I have a spare complete lower in the case that needs a 300 Blackout upper first or maybe 9mm with a suppressor.....too many choices

Since someone was talking 8 MM and FN Mauser on classic stocks, I'm doing one as well.

I know the front Schnabel looks bit blocky but I could only work with what I had, an old Parker hale stock and the front sling stud will screw in there anyway

Love it. That looks like a fairly heavy barrel? I'm holding out for just the right 98 in 8mm. By that I mean I'm holding out permission to spend that much on a rifle. :D

not sure if you can use it on the 308 but I do know you can swap lowers between all the pistol and small rifle calibers like 9mm 40 and 7.62 x39

Have another one but looking for a 9.3 barrel for it built on a VZ33 action.

Awesome, are suppressors like they are in England in NZ? Encouraged? Just walk into the store and get one off the shelf?

Wait times in the US for Form 4 approval on NFA items like suppressors are now 15 months. It took 3 weeks for my first one.

Ben, if you want to look at a good candidate I have a Persian carbine, not Czech but made in Tehran, very well made with all matching numbers and nice deep bluing (about 98%). I would make a great black timber or truck gun in the right stock. Doesn't appear to have been fired much at all as bore is clean & L&G's are sharp. Someone previously put it in a modified military stock and made it into a poor man's Mannlicher. I've tried unsuccessfully to find the proper stock for it; they just don't appear to exist. Being short, it is loud and after dark is quite the flame thrower. If interested PM me your E-mail address & I'll take some pictures.

Yep I wouldn't shoot a centre fire without one now, in saying that I still have 3 to get threaded a .243 a .257 and a custom 30:06 AI which I wont get done it's worth to much:)

Felt recoil in the .243 and .257 is more than in the suppressed magnum and other big calibre rifles.

Below my 7/08 lightweight carry rifle 16 inch barrel 120tsx at 3000fps and my .280 "go to" rifle.

My eyes are clearly not as good as tarheels.

Here's a link that will also help: http://www.picturetrail.com/sfx/album/view/17575181

1 KG = 2.20462262 pounds

Chokes are: 18.3 = approx .725 (IC?)

The chamber mark is the 12/65? inside the omega at the chambers on the flats. I can't read the number after the 12 though.

RST makes shells for these old doubles. I'd not use more than a 1 oz load of 2 1/2's. http://www.rstshells.com/

Nice double. :)

Ben, I found the choke numbers; IC is .720 and Skeet1 is .724, so we were close. As to the chamber length, the number inside the Omega does appear to be 65, would have to be 70 to equate to 2 3/4". Either way a nice piece as you say, and if shells don't require a second mortgage I'd make it a regular bird gun. I can't wait to finish inletting the butt stock on my 1929 L.C. Smith and get it on some quail. I found a really nice for age 20ga L.C. a couple of weeks ago for $325 and am having a difficult time resisting driving back for three hours to get it.

I hope someday we get some common sense in this country on suppressors. I'd have one for every rifle and pistol if there wasn't a $200 a pop tax and ridiculous approval times. Unfortunately Hollywood makes the average person think they are for assassins and they sound like a mouse fart. Even folks on this site think they are for poachers :D

This is the only photo I have on my computer of my suppressor. It's hanging on a Glock 26 with an AA .22 Upper

....things overheard on WV's porch;

Sorry sir...wrong castle. Have a nice night. Would your neighbors happen to be armed?

Hi, I'm your neighbor....thank you.
