Just got online montana fish and game and purchesed
1 conservation license
1 hunting access enhancement
1 Black bear spring and fall.

NR total of $380.71 its going to be an expensive bear if I get one but I used my cabelas card so atleast I earned a few points. I cant wwait to get out there for the first time in my life the 22 hour drive may not be the funnest part but I have a buddy coming with me to take turns behind the wheel.I will be leaving on a friday morning towards the end of may after I get done with work.

I hope to atleast see one.I gues I dont really know what to expect exept what I have heard from you guys here. Most everyone that hunts them seem to be locals. Thanks for all the answerd questions I have had from you guys.

From my memories of spring bear hunting if you are at all in the right location and are willing to put some shoe leather to the ground you will be able to shoot a bear.

Since then there are way more bears so I would still think that you stand a good chance for success if you put in the time walking the old logging roads.

No idea on trophy bear quality though, when I was bear hunting the goal was just to shoot a bear.

If nothing else you will see some pretty country and get some good exercise!

Yep my goal is to shoot a legal bear.color phase would be a bonus

Wasn't too long ago I remember the NR bear tag was $125, what an absolute steal at that price, OTC even! Had alot of good days chasing them, haven't bought one for awhile but you guys got me thinking twice...

You mean your giving up prime time carp shooting to hunt Bear...

Well... good luck with that !!! :)

I'm only a little jealous... OK maybe alot...;)

I'll stick to my $35 MN bear tag and a 5 minute walk to get my bear. But the country you'll be in is priceless, good luck!

Have a great trip and be safe.Post some pics where you get back.If you put in the work, you should be rewarded.keep your head in the game, and don't give up.2nd guessing myself is always a problem on diy hunts.Stay the full amount of time you have planned.things can change in seconds when your hunting

Another $80.00 in my topo maps, this is really starting to add up.I think I will make my buddy buy the $100.00 montana GPS map chip.
