Grouse in NM

Shoulder is shot, surgery due on 11/8. But I have these nice Remington 1100s, in 12 ga.

Anybody here know anything of grouse hunting in NM? I would really like to get out and hunt before October is over and my shoulder gets cut on. Figuring that the soft-shooting 1100 will be tolerable (enough), and I won't be in misery if I get a shot or two.

Next weekend looks like my only for grouse, too many plane tix. Thinking I borrow Annette's dog, and go for a walk. She hates gunshots, but runs to me for safety (go figure). Would love to have a bird or two since I can't play deer hunter or elk hunter this year.

I can just about taste that pie in November.....
