Greenhouses

@Southern Elk go to your local NRCS office, when I worked there they used to cost share small greenhouses. I'm not sure if they still do, but it's worth a shot.
 
I built mine under our south facing deck. There is a door to the basement/crawl space in the green house and I have a frost free spigot inside to water with. Added grow lights a few weeks ago and insulated the walls under the counters with 2"solid foam board. The panels are 6mm polycarbonate.IMG_3209.jpegIMG_3210.jpegIMG_3211.jpeg
 
I don’t have a greenhouse but have wasted hours researching building one myself. I’m at roughly 4k’ but I can still grow in my outside garden easily. A green house extends a month on each end of the growing season.

For a 6k’ situation where essentially everything is grown in a greenhouse, I’d research high tunnel greenhouses. You can heat them if you want but otherwise you’ll still have enough long growing season in them.
 
I would definitely put it below grade if it were me. There's a farm in Belt that has two of them and they are amazing. Never thought I'd see a banana or lemon tree growing in MT
 
Check out a Walipini. Here is an article about one.
+1 Walipini especially if you live on the side of a hill makes it way easier and it will stay much warmer. My friend has one and it is pretty impressive honestly.
