Do you use the toothy critters leader?
Have you tried just tying heavy flouro on and does it still turn flys over okay?

I have a healthy supply of Tyger wire, which is supple enough to tie knots. Unfortunately the company went tits up during covid.
I believe there are some new products out there that are similar.
People do use heavy flouro for pike, 40-60lb. I actually make my leaders out of flouro, and attach wire to the end using a tippet ring.
The heavy flouro will absolutely turn over big flies . Keep the leader shorter though. There are also a menagerie of fly lines which are designed to make casting big flies easier.

Thank you. I’ve been looking into those pre sized leaders just to have on hand when we head to the lake, but also questioned if it’d just be smarter/cost effective to do what you’re doing. Would you be willing to share the brand or style wire at the end? Trade secret?

Like I said^...I use Tyger wire which no longer is produced/sold.
But Cortland has its own version I see after a quick Google search.
The Cortland product appears similar to what I use. Worth a try.
