These public land birds are tough. I found myself under choked today or we would have limited. Pretty long range flushes and shots.

Finn put on a clinic with these two birds.

I can take a partridge dog quail hunting, but she’ll still find partridge.

If that's the either of the areas I think it might be, I used to enjoy fly fishing there. Have never tried hunting out that way, though.

My 3 year old never trained dog on our walk today . He was pointing a Griebe and I was getting my phone out for a pic , he gives me his WTF? look ...He points everything and holds till I say OK , then flushes them . I wish I had this guy in Michigan .

Quail day part two. Valley quail is gangsta’ hunting. They run away as I walk into a point. Flocks of 50+ birds flying by giving me the bird in waives as my gun is empty from shooting at the first birds. The ghost feeling as I reach into my right pocket and find it empty of shotgun shells…

Dogs and I chased them around enough for a small meal!

I’m going back to chukars tomorrow.
