GPS recommendations

I couldn't find any other threads so I thought I'd start a new one...I've been thinking about getting a GPS (haven't had one in years) and wondered what recommendations you might have for units (and locations to purchase). If you have any that a buyer should steer clear of, do tell!

I'm looking for one that can be used to track important locations (waypoints) and display topo maps without problem -- being able to view those in 3D would be pretty cool.
