Here's everyone's chance to try out their management theories...all you have to do once you get the job is politic your management into practice:

Frankfort, KY - The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission is conducting a nationwide search for the agency’s next commissioner.

State law calls on the nine-member commission to appoint a commissioner to head the state agency charged with the protection and conservation of the Commonwealth’s wildlife resources, and Chairman Doug Hensley says it is a responsibility the body takes seriously.

"Kentucky has the best fish and wildlife agency in the country, and this is a big job and a great opportunity for the right person," said Hensley, of Hazard, and an 18-year member of the Department’s guiding body. "Every member of this commission is committed to getting the best person for this job."

KDFWR Commissioner Tom Bennett set the search in motion when he told the commission at its regular quarterly meeting last month of his intention to retire after 32 years of government service, nearly 12 of those as the agency’s head.

"We’ve taken huge strides in areas of wildlife restorations, public land acquisition, increased hunting, fishing and wildlife recreational opportunity, youth hunting and outdoor skills advancement, conservation education, and wildlife and boating law enforcement," said Hensley. "And this department is on more solid fiscal ground today than at any time in its history.

"We have better fishing and wildlife recreation in Kentucky now than we have ever had," said Hensley. "This is the best job in the country. We will find the right person."

Hensley is inviting persons with a knowledge of and experience in the requirements for the protection, conservation and restoration of the wildlife resources of the Commonwealth to apply. He says the commission prefers persons with a college degree in a relevant area and 10 years of experience, but allows that exceptional experience may substitute for the education requirements.

By law, the Commissioner Works for the Fish and Wildlife Commission and has general supervision and control of all activities, functions, appointments, and employees of the Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources. The KDFWR commissioner enforces all provisions of the laws of the state relating to wild animals, birds, fish and amphibians. A more complete description of the position and requirements is posted at the KDFWR website at http://fw.ky.gov.

Interested persons should send a detailed resumé to: Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources Commission, 1 Game Farm Road, Frankfort, KY 40601.
