Good article on hunting

Up the road in Shenandoah National Park, authorities recently broke up a ring of hunters who were shooting black bears and selling their gallbladders for the Asian medicine market.
Elsewhere, hunters illegally bait for ducks, kill over their limits, ignore the season, spray houses with bird shot, and argue with landowners who catch them trespassing

In both instances the author shouldn't have used the term hunters
these guys are poachers nothering more and associating us with unethicall people never is good for our cause.

I wish people could understand the damage done when we're lumped in one category

I think that the "damage" done is overblown, especially as far as this article is concerned. To non-hunters, they are "illegal" hunters, but still "hunters." The distinction is one that only experienced and ethical hunters make a big deal about. It is like "drunk drivers" and "drivers." I'm far more concerned about the way hunters are portrayed in movies and cartoons like "Into the Wild."

In spite of the "slur" against hunters, I still think it was positive to have an article like this in a magazine like National Geographic.
