A perfect morning in the pines. This Tom read the script, he came in gobbling and strutted around my hen decoy for about 5 minutes. Their sunrise dance came to an abrupt halt though when he jumped up on the decoy and I was afraid he’d break the stake.
You win the picture contest…haha. Very cool look down the barrel.View attachment 370983

Yeah, I was having too much fun watching him strut, spit, drum & gobble so I held off on shooting for a bit. When he turned away and his fan blocked his view, I fished my phone out of my pocket and got some pictures and video.Did you snap the down the barrel shot with your phone?

Nice hooks! Great bird, congratsNew property, first season hunting birds, finally a day of sunshine! All the new guns stayed home, the 1928 Lefever with #5 lead did just fine (at 22 yards). Getting them close is fun!
Sweet pic! Congrats.View attachment 370983

You can take me there blind folded if you want.i would love to hear some input on this bird. My buddy was talking about a tom that practically had a manbun coming from his chest. Couple hours later I spotted him. Unfortunately we both are already filled out and don't have anyone we want to share the spot with. With my limited experience, This bird has an exceptional beard. Is it a double? Extra thick? Maybe we just haven't seen what a REAL mature tom looks like before this guy. View attachment 371165View attachment 371163
