Gas/Fuel Price and hunting plans

yep,i wouldnt even trade my 2004 5.9 for a brand new truck,,i dont want all the def and emission garbage on the new ones,,at 145 k ,my 5.9 has just gotten broke in

with diesel high,i just try to only use it on hunting trips to keep the milage down on it to about 5 k a year,,i drive my taco as a daily driver

Having never driven before the global war on terror, I've never considered gas to be reasonably priced. It's always sucked. But this is the most painful I've ever seen. And as a new dad I can confirm the cost of everything indeed makes it tough, but we still have room to tighten up if we needed to. Seeing folks talk about the price of daycare is scaring me though, because that's coming soon. Thankfully my wife and I are not spenders. I almost never buy gear, guns or anything I don't truly need to do what I want. It's often uncomfortable and inconvenient but that money goes toward gas and securing a tag. Anytime I see folks in expensive hunting clothes I can't help but see a price tag. While I'm wet and cold in 20 year old cotton blends.

Not gonna get any easier, but you’ll get smarter. We’ve got three under six and can’t wait to get outta daycare. We’re frugal and prioritize savings/retirement heavily.

Right now, everything feels tight. I can tell my wife is stressed out about it by the way she goes on about groceries and utilities costing what they do. And because she tells me it’s stressing her out.

Sucks having to imagine 2 more years of this bush league administration.

My dad and cousin drew late AZ elk tags. The idea was brought up today, by them, to turn in the tags and stick closer to home. I’m not sure if that’ll happen, but fuel prices are the factor that started the conversation.

There will be a weekend this fall where I will be feeling lazy and say the reason I hunted around home instead driving 2 hours was because of gas prices and not my lack of motivation.

Higher fuel prices more limit my everyday and weekly planning. I try and plan a bit better to make sure I’m not needlessly running back and forth across the county and joy riding around just for something to do. I cant always control it but if possible I try and schedule business in the same area and day. I find with a little planning I am saving about a tank to a tank and half a month in my truck. More than enough to pay the extra fuel costs for my five or six hunting trips that are 8-9 hrs away from home. Even if I wouldnt have cut back on everyday fuel cost I would be going. I’m not letting anything keep me from the thing I wait for every years. If it effects anything it effects my other purchases that I dont need just want. Like new hunting clothes, crap for the cabin, rifles, scopes and other things I just blow money on. I got plenty of rifles and ammo to kill more deer than I can in two lifetimes so I just need to get there.
