Frustrated. I sent my hunting partner a email on Thursday, saying that if he had some free time, that I wanted to bring the Camping Gear down out of the top of my barn on Friday,
He called me about 15 minutes later, and told me that he started have Chest Pains during a training exercise at work on Wednesday, and they sent him home, then he went to his Doctor, for some tests and has a stress test scheduled for this Wednesday.
I am glad that all this is happening here at home, rather than in 2 weeks when we were going to be in MT. for our Elk hunt.
But the real frustrating part is his DR. wanted him to have a stress test last year after he had this yearly physical, but he never went ahead and scheduled it, and I made sure that I reminded him of that.
Hopefully all his test come out okay. and it was just stress related or something ?.
or I may be going to MT in 2 weeks alone. which won't make my Wife very happy.

Hopefully he's able to go, thankfully it happened now. I've gone solo twice under similar circumstances...double everything...expense, work, etc. Guessing it's about 1500 miles for you...was about half that for me. Honestly I enjoyed every minute. Best of luck to your buddy and you.

Hope everything turns out well. I know the thought of possibly having to plan for an unexpected solo trip can be stressful in and of itself. About a month ago, my brother was notified he may have to give testimony about a case at work and the deposition date was the day after we are scheduled to leave. Anyhow, all worked out OK so just keep the fingers crossed.

A friend and I hunted in Wyoming a couple years ago. A few days after we returned home, he started having pain in his chest and hands. He went to the Dr and ended up getting a quadruple bipass (he was only 42). Scary to think what could have happened in Wyoming. Shortly after, I convinced my Dr to schedule a stress test for me....good feeling when the results came back fine. I hope your friends results are good and he's able join you on the hunt!

Waiting till Wednesday for his stress test is killing me. ( no pun intended ).
I have talked to him several times, he says he feels fine now, so I am hoping it was just stress related or something.
I have explained it all to my Wife and she is worried , because she knows that I will go alone if he can't go.
The food is all bought, prepped and in the freezer I take out.
the coolers are full of Pop and Gatorade they just need to be iced down.
and I already have the Elk license bought $843.00.
setting up Camp is a pain by my self, but I have done it before.
I guess that I just have to impatiently wait till Wednesday.

Good luck on the hunt whether your buddy can make it or not. Lets hope he does and you guys have a great time, but i have learnt long ago to not worry about such things and just roll with it and enjoy yourself whether you are alone or with a partner. Life is WAY too short to stress over things, and more often then not, stress is brought on by the person, a situation or an accumulation of events, just deal with them, put it all behind you when you are on the road or mountain and just enjoy each day of the hunt in the field.

Bad News, my buddy just called, he sees a heart specialist on Monday, it looks like he needs a heart catheter and stent put in.

so it looks like I will be making this trip to MT alone.

Be safe and good luck, Kevin. Look into getting a DeLorme InReach to ease your wife's mind. Even out of cell service, you can still get messages back and forth and there is an SOS function.

Great News
I sent some messages to some of my friends last night.
one of them called this morning, he had to rearrange some vacation time, but he is coming with me.
which makes me happy, and my Wife extremely happy.

I don't know how everyone feels, but hunting camp is just a lot more fun, when I have someone to share it with.
