Patrick Hemingway passed away in Bozeman this week. He lived a long, rich life distinct from his father, and lived many peaceful years in Bozeman. My grandparents talked about how he went to church with them.
Almost twenty years ago, this foolish young Hemingway scholar called him and left a voicemail, because I wanted to interview him about his dad’s Montana connections. I’m embarrassed at the thought. There was a much bigger story there than that.
So pour one out for him. Salud Patrick.
