Our political leaders continue to make asses of themselves:
Capitol Hill-AP -- House Democrats and Republicans can't agree on the wording of a resolution praising U-S troops and the Iraqi people on the first anniversary of the Iraq invasion.

Democrats charge the measure, written by the Republicans, is a political document aimed at endorsing President Bush's policies.

Republicans defend the wording, saying the removal of Saddam Hussein from power has made the U-S and the world a safer place.

The resolution also commends the Iraqi people for their courage in the face of Saddam's oppression -- and for adopting an interim constitution. It also commends U-S and coalition forces for their service.

Democrats stressed their gratitude to the troops while questioning whether the war in Iraq has reduced the terror threat, pointing to last week's bombings in Spain.

They were also upset that the resolution was written by Republicans without any Democratic input.
MY OPINION: "Dear Armed Services members, please find enclosed a cardboard cookie as a token of our thanks for your efforts. We would like to take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to you for actions that may or may not have been warranted in a country that may or may not have been a belligerent threat even though those actions may or may not have been effective in achieving their assigned task. We would show more appreciation, but the guys on the other side of the aisle might take it as some form of concession to their party's agenda." Bah! If that's the best they can do, then just fageddaboudit.
