This last week I spent another 5 days in the Frank Church working. My work partner and I back-packed 43.5 miles in 3 days. The Mystery ranch packs work great...couldnt even imagine not having those packs for this kind of work.
Anyway, heres a picture of the cold meadows guard station, we got flown in early and hiked 11 miles that day.
The guard station is on the registry for historic sites...which is good.
The first night we camped at coyote springs. This isnt what it looks like, its an old telegraph booth, there was telegraph lines and old insulators on the inside.
While we were camped at coyote springs had a visitor every night...
Heres a picture of Cottonwood creek...I believe it burned in 2000 or close to there. Nice and green now.
We had some work in the upper part of Trapper Creek...right at the base of the first big hills.
Also had some work just below cottonwood peak:
The last night we spent in the bunkhouse at cold meadows...heres the deluxe accomadations:
While we were there, I noticed a few things...this old vice was kind of neat and sits right in front of the tool shed.
Of course, I had to try it...and it still works perfectly...and its been there for a while, since 1913:
We had a pretty good trip...one last picture of soldier bar airstrip from the air:
