Forest Service Reorg - Progress or Politics

Nah. There is and will remain ample public evidence of their intent to use.

And the impacts of what they have already done will be more visible as time goes on...and will last for quite a while.

"Remember MAGA"? Will be useful for decades...

Yep, exactly what I am seeing as well. It’s effective until it’s not.
Don't underestimate humans, particularly Americans, desire to have something to be afraid of when it comes to things they hold dear. Couple that with a relatively small number of folks that like to roll out poorly thought-out ideas regarding public lands, and you have a perpetual funding machine.

If you think the fear is chicken little, be my guest.

I personally don’t think that Yellowstone is in jeopardy of being sold, that is correct. And yes, it has been discussed here on Hunt Talk.

The problem with claims like that is that they dilute the actual, realistic challenges that public lands face.

The Chinese part was. The Yellowstone part has absolutely been discussed on Hunt Talk.
I recall this as well. I took that also as hyperbole to illustrate the opposing argument. But who knows maybe someone on HT has this as a legitimate potential outcome.

He was using hyperbole to illustrate a point and you know it.

I’m not going to waste time arguing this. Re read his post. He directly insinuated YNP being sold to the Chinese was a dupe for fundraising by unnamed orgs. In reality it’s BS he read on the internet. Thats why I called him out on it. If you can show me a fundraising ad that makes this claim I will happily retract my statements and apologize to all involved parties.

Now you’re simply being obtuse.

So are you.

I proved the Yellowstone discussion occurred with a direct link that includes prominent member of a well-known conservation org as well as one of the nation’s leading conservationists chiming in. Not sure what else it would take to prove my point, nor am I all that interested in changing anyone’s mind. Just an observation of potential fundraising headwinds in the future, we’ll see what happens.

We should all celebrate that Yellowstone is safe… for now😉

man i don't recall much hysteria around actually losing yellowstone.

but i have zero doubt that the groups and individuals that would like to see places like yellowstone taken out of federal control and enjoy loosened protection are 100% serious in that desire. i think too much stands in their way to really get there, personally.

at the same time pretending they're not serious is also, to their delight, removing a little bit of what stands in the way.

though, kinda tangentially, i do kinda agree with Rinella on national parks, would be kinda cool if they all just reverted to capital W Wilderness.

You should communicate more directly. Referring to Buzz and Big Fin?

It looks like you and Seeth were the only ones specifically talking about selling Yellowstone. Big Fin is talking about the various groups in Utah and Wyoming that want all federal lands, including national parks turned over to the states and have a history of wanting to sell those lands. Is there something untrue about that?

Buzz responds to a post about people buying their own piece of Yellowstone Country. Which is a common reference to the area around Yellowstone which is how any land transferred would likely be marketed:
