Football General Talk

The packers should just get on the bus at this point but the way they are playing the second half it probably won’t start.
I haven't seen a turn around like that in some time. Vikings were dead and buried in the first half. Real happy for JJ, a superstar who didn't complain, supported the team, didn't demand a trade, when he had a bad year due to problems not caused by him.

Like I said though I like Wentz. Not the solution but he can work in the Vikings offense. Biggest issue is O line play and keeping him healthy.

The Packers worst problem was O line play too. They need to get some srarters back.

Wait. JJ McCarthy is a super star? mtmuley

WHAT DID YOU SAY? Did you even watch the man play? Yeah, I got you wrong. How old are you solo? Wow. Put up the 20 running backs ahead of him. mtmuley

Easy, I’m 49. I’ve watched too much football and played. This will be too easy. Emmitt was made by his team. That’s hard for me to admit: Go watch his highlights. You’re a Cowboy fan. You saw it, he played behind arguably the best O line ever. There’s a reason no one talks about Aikman even though he won all those Super Bowls.

I’ll start early NFL move to today; Jim Brown, Gale Sayers, OJ, Walter Payton, Franco Harris, Earl Campbell, Eric Dickerson, Tony Dorsett, Barry Sanders, Terrel Davis, Jerome Bettis, Thurman Thomas, Marshal Faulk, Bo Jackson, Ladanian Tomlinson, Shaun Alexander, Edgerrin James, Adrian Peterson, Marshawn Lynch, Leveon Bell, Chris Johnson, Derek Henry… on that note Henry beats him in all stats… size, speed, yards per carry, and will soon be the all-time rusher. He was even on shizzy teams.

Gibbs, Bijan, Saquan even?

Maybes…Larry Csonka, Marcus Allen, Christian Okoye, Mike Alstott, Warrick Dunn, Billy Sims, Priest Holmes… there are more.

I don’t just look at stats. Smith is a compiler. He played on great teams and played a long time. If there’s a pick up game in heaven Smith is riding the pine.

You need a reality check. mtmuley

Jordan love played like he wanted to be the Vikings backup. 21/42 with an int. He had a lot of yards but that was aided by the 80 yard td on the second play of the game and several 30+ yard passes in the second quarter.

Feel free to debate. What stats will you give? Super Bowls? Career Yardage? He did get that one MVP, but I remember the distinct discussion by announcers that it was a Emmit/Newton/Allen MVP.

I’m not telling you he wasn’t a great back. He just wasn’t one of the best. Can you find an example where an expert that argues for him?

My favorite pundit quote ever… Shannon Sharpe, "If Barry Sanders had played for the Dallas Cowboys, he would have had 4,000-yard seasons. They would have had to change the rules of the game."

It makes me sick to say, but Larry Allen was one of the absolute best tackles I ever watched, and Newton was nasty.

Would you argue Smith was even the best player on his team? Deion was the best cover corner in history. He was a candy ass, but damn was he athletic, fast and had amazing hands.

Ranking a player because of supporting cast is laughable. You obviously have way more time than I do to search this shit up. I just watched the games. mtmuley

I haven’t looked a thing up. I was a huge card collector as a kid, and football junky. Close your eyes and think of an Emmitt run. We all know them. He knew how to hit a hole. I’ll give him that: maybe one cut and go.

Think of an Earl Campbell run. Dump freaking truck. Barry? Spin, juke, accelerate, making the world’s best athletes look like fools. Jim Brown… it’s rare to have the man effect in the NFL. He looked like he was playing a high school JV team. Walter Payton running people over… imagine if he had a manly voice! 😂

A hard debate for me… when Henry retires will he be the best??? He’s not electric like Barry, but damn is he a freak of nature. It’s kind of like Jordan vs. Lebron. Two totally different players.

But you forgot heart, soul, and grind.
John Riggins.

I'd take him for the Vikings in a heartbeat.

He's not wrong. Ask Aikman. That O line was fantastic and punishing.

How well did he do with the Cardinals, by the way?

Not to say he wasnt very good. But the advantage of that O line can't be discounted.
