Football General Talk

Football and especially the NFL is so layered. The team you’re drafted by, the other players, the coaches, and even the city.

Think about the players that became more or less depending on their situation. Few players are indomitable. Actually all are part of a system. This isn’t sprinting or golf.

Barry Sanders was held back by his teams. Emmitt Smith became a hall of Famer due to his teams. Don’t get me wrong he was a good NFL running back, but he doesn’t even sniff the top 20 most talented running backs of all time.

Shoot… Russ managed to destroy his career and reputation. He was on his way to the hall, and now there’s zero shot.

I agree. That’s why organizations like the Steelers and the packers and the 49ers always seem to find a way to the top while the browns or the bengals find their way to the bottom.

Seahawks for the last 20 years too. Those poor Browns… the Mariners in baseball…

WHAT DID YOU SAY? Did you even watch the man play? Yeah, I got you wrong. How old are you solo? Wow. Put up the 20 running backs ahead of him. mtmuley

Sure, but i feel confident Maye will have a better resume than Darnold at the end of his career.
I like Maye a lot. Not as good a runner but reminds me of early Josh Allen, just needs to limit bad choices.

Darnolds quite good IMO. People tend to look at his years when teams and coaches failed him and forget he was a #1 pick for his arm talent. In MN his O line and lack of quick hitting options to overcome their failure hurt him. He is not as mobile though more athletic than some think.
