Fishing near New Orleans

Will be in the New Orleans area after Christmas. Initially thought about Venice. However, it will just be me and my young teen daughter so I will be financing the entire redfish fishing trip.

Does anyone have recommendations based on experience for fishing for redfish in the area?

Closer to New Orleans ia cheaper but also seems to have smaller fish.

And FYI, Im currently somewhat near the Chesapeake Bay for work, so I hope to target the same December giants of Venice while they are in the ChepeaBay in June.

I lived down there but its been 15 years.

My buddy had a place in Houma / Dulac area and we fished reds a ton down there...about same driving distance from New Orleans, less famous so possibly cheaper?

Venice is special, but there was (and i assume still is) really good redfish fishing all over down there.

Generally lots of solid to big reds inshore along with speckled trout...the truly huge reds we caught off the rigs offshore.

very old intel and probably not much help...i sure miss those days!!
