Every time she sees one of those little, pink mini .22's my 8 year old goes nuts. She wants one in the worst way. I see they come in both a Chipmunk and a Cricket, the question is is one of these guns better then the other?

Also, is there a better choice for a really small young'un for her first gun?

My buddy bought both his boys the "chipmunk", thankfully neither of them wanted pink. But I digress, seemed to me that they were pretty good shooting little 22's.

There a lot of weirdoes on various boards that buy them for 'survival' rifles. If it’s good enough for Rambo it should be ok for your 8yo.

From my experience with women (Ha!) whichever one she wants. But she will want it to be a surprise. You are lucky to have a daughter who feels that way. I hoe you both have a good time with her shooting it. Are you going to put a scope on it?

I would think an 8 year old would be able to shoot a bigger, youth model rifle. That way you could sway stocks out later on and she could shoot it forever.
