first elk hunt

I practice at 80 regularly for whitetail. I only shoot at deer at 40 yards, but it really makes the close shots seem like slam dunks. I had a turkey come by at 32 yards last year and didn't hesitate to shoot at it and I made a very good shot on it.

Just as important as distance is knowing where to shoot them. Especially the different angles. Elk have a pretty large kill zone, but the further away they are the more likely they are to react to the sound and move before the arrow gets there. I always refresh my memory with vital pics before I go.
Thanks for posting pics, always a good reminder and these are some of the better visuals I have seen.

It was a very amazing hunt for memeries and expirences. We did not punch either of our tags. but the first day we where out there we had to HUGE bull moose 20 yards away chasing a cow and a calf. We got into lots of sign and where on the tracks of a huge herd bull but an outfitter bumped them out of the area.
