Hello everyone I’m going on my first elk hunt ever this year in unit 67 second rifle. I’ve chased antelope, mule deer and caribou since 2015 now I’m finally burning up elk points I have in various states. Been getting prepared as best I can fitness, shooting, escouting, getting the old truck in tip top shape. I drove the 17 hours with my oldest boy to check the unit out. Learned a lot, I can’t wait. If anyone has any interest I have a few questions I’d rather go through PM’s. Thanks all good luck out there this year.

Beautiful photos. I imagine your son had a great time. Good luck, I hope you get your elk.

I’ll be out there 2nd season deer if you want to trade info and resources that week.

We can PM once you get enough posts.

Thanks everyone yes as soon as I drew the tag I knew I was headed west for a scouting trip. There’s never a bad time to go west. Plus I didn’t mind getting out of 85 degrees and 90 percent humidity. Plus the highest I’ve ever hunted was 8800 feet. So I wanted to feel the elevation and get an idea how long it would take me to get acclimated.

I muzzleloader hunted it last year. Can probably help with access questions.

Many kudos on making the long trip out for scouting! The scouting trip alone looks like it should be a lifetime memory! Good luck this season
