Finally Drew in ID, Unit 44

Been hunting Idaho for years, and putting in for controlled hunts, with no luck. Today I got a postcard, I drew unit 44 for mule deer. Have hunted 48 and 43, but not 44, but heard some good things.

Anyone care to help with some starting points to start looking? Plan on a couple trips up there prior to the season, and putting in some time to try to turn up a good buck. Always looking for a monster, but would be happy with a respectable 160" buck. I will be hunting on my own, unless someone wants to join...

Good luck! That's some good country and a fun hunt. Be sure to contact the USFS and get the most up to date trail maps. There's a few new trails in that unit that open up a LOT of country. Though I didn't lay eyes on any monsters, I'm sure they're there.

Fun unit for seeing deer. Congrats on the tag. I saw 14 bucks there last weekend but looked like they were headed for another unit. All smaller bucks but there are bigger in there. Good luck!
