Just to throw cold water on those dreams of a mastodon hunt, I think this is only possible when the embryo/clone can be gestated in a mother that's genetically quite similar to the cloned species. So this one worked with a domesticated ferret but I don't know if we can get a bobcat to welp a smilodon. (Wouldn't hurt to try though right?)
