Elk size pictures

I'm curious with my first elk permit this year. I would like to know what a elk right around the 300 inch mark looks like. Put up some pictures. It would help to be able to see some 300 elk that way if I seen one or even one bigger I have an idea of what I'm looking at.
Big

Here’s my 2 biggest bulls. Roughly 279” and 281”. I thought they were 320” when I saw them come in. Wasn’t disappointed at all when I was corrected after scoring them haha

Any one of these will serve nicely for a rookie. Don't get hung up on inches. The one in above in the brush probably 350, lower one real close to 300. I'm not a fan of the Texas heart shot, I'd take the first broadside shot.

A 300in bull is honestly a really big bull. Most people way overestimate.

If you’ve never shot a bull, I don’t see how a 240 5x5 won’t get you pumped.

This bull was 299 and change. My buddy who has shot lots of bulls was convinced he was 320-330. So much so that he measured him twice.

This bull was super cool, but I’d shoot a legal 4x4 tomorrow and be super happy about it! Enjoy your hunt!

Most of this thread is very awesome for the fact that I also would’ve guessed these bulls bigger than the posted score. These same pics on facebook, posted by different hunters, and these would be 330+ bulls. I’ve been fortunate enough to see a my fair share of large bulls on the ground and last year my buddy shot one that fooled me. At first I thought he was 330. Then his small 3rds were noticeable and also short main beams but I still thought 320. He was 310”. My bull was 278” (I think. I may have to make an edit here). A few good reference photos I figure.

As far as scoring goes I've killed about 40 to 43 elk, measured one. He was big just not as big as I thought. In Colorado one year I watched a dande six point waiting for legal light. The youngest member of our group caught up to me just then. I pointed out the bull and he started to whine and shake like a bird dog pup. Why don't you just shoot him I whisper. That bull went 355. Sure most were spikes and rag horns, a couple of cows, lost one. Killed 3 in one season twice.
I've been hunting elk since I was 12, never missed a season. I'm 67 come elk season this year.
I hope you have as much fun hunting elk as I have, perhaps you'll move to good elk country so you see it every day like I do. If you go from here forward just taking it all in you'll have a great hunting life.
Good luck
That is 355

First draw hunt, just be happy to shoot one! Don't worry about the size, just have fun and bring something home! The moment you start putting inches to it, the fun goes away! Especially on your first hunt! Enjoy it! Whether you tag one or not!!

That bull does look bigger than a 299 bull. I'd measure it again too.

Visually, any tips on how you can tell that this bull doesn't hit the 330 range?

Just curious what you guys think this bull would score. I was thinking around that 300” mark, but not sure..really big bodied bull.

He is narrow and his mains are short. He also has good length, but none of his tines are exceptional.

You would have to be really good at scoring or he’d have to be standing next to a 330 bull for you to see the difference immediately. However, after spending some time looking him over and handling him, it starts to make sense.

Never scored this bull but I think well below 300".
2nd bull is about 335" and some change, he was the wounded bull I took a couple of years ago.

It depends on what the coordinates are, let me know and we will give you a precise number.
In between Canada and Mexico should narrow it down for you.😂

Ha.. I’ll shoot a cow with my bow this year if it presents a good shot, but he has me intrigued.

I have only 1 season in so far hunting elk after moving up from the flatlands, that being said if its legal and steps into my shooting lane within the proper range it's brown down.
