Since my elk hunting has mainly been in thick stuff where a long shot was 75 yards, it is really hard for me to imagine hunting elk in a place like that.

First archery bull and first packout with my mare and her 3yo mule. A funky, cool looking little 6x3.
Hunted solo but big thanks to my buddy for his help packing up the stock and getting it out.

After being so close so many times, and being into elk on most days for the past few years, it felt really darn good to get it done.

Thank you! Surprisingly, the shot was right around 100 yards. Its fun to find them in little pockets in open country.
