Elk Hunting Is Part Of The Conservation Plan On Northeastern Oregon's Zumwalt Prairie

Thanks for posting. I've looked at that unit for a cow tag and it seems like it would be a great place to hunt especially early season.

They cut those tags significantly this year, and they're planning to cut them further next year. Basically, the elk are back down to the numbers they want.

I had one of the tags once. It was a good hunt on the conservancy, but it was January, and it was cold!

Cool article. I have a lot of respect for the way TNC has helped administer that hunt and allowing free access.

Very interesting pieces of property, beautiful country. Fantastic elk ground. Some concern TNC will be sucking in to many elk again, just have to see.
