Drill Winch

I'm super interested in this thread. I really looked into these last fall after we winched my wife's elk up into the SxS off of a logging road while in Idaho. My brain has been going non stop ever since thinking what could be done to move an elk a few hundred feet or more to do the same thing again if it doesn't die 50' from the road like that one did.

My NM bull was about 400 yards from the road and it was downhill and fairly clear of obstacles where this type of winch I know could have got the job done.

So…you are that guy that runs his sxs stopping every 1/4 mile to blast a bugle hoping to catch a dumb one? 😂

Sorry, I couldn’t resist.

Nope, we did an elk drive (I know, real WI of us) and my wife was posted on the logging road. Well it worked! The elk literally ran her over and she shot it like 20 yards away

I was with a group that used one to drag a cow up to a logging road once. Honestly would have been easier to quarter her and carry her out. We had to continually move her around snags, stop to reset the winch, etc. Whole debacle was pointless because the logging road was gated off and we still had to wheel her out a couple miles on a game cart but I wasn’t packing the winch around all day and they were excited to use their new toy so I went along with it.

My brother and I watched a pair of atv's in AZ chasing after a bull that bugled. They were carrying their bows like they were going to shoot if they caught up with it.

They do make them up to 1,000#'s which is one I might look at more. The synthetic rope will weigh little less.
