What are your expectations for horn size?

Are taking the first legal ram or holding out for a certain measurement?

Well, if they let me measure the horns first, I'll hold out for a 40"er.

I plan on holding out for a really good ram. As Buzz said, my gay guide and I will have 13 days of hunting if we need it, and I plan on using it. I will kill a sheep, but I'm not going to kill any legal ram in the first week. My plane tickets have me arriving 5 days early and leaving two days after the season is over. There's a picture of a 2006 ram from Chugach S.P. in the most recent issue of Grand Slam that goes 177+. That sounds about right to me.

You're right...I must still be suffering the effects of spending a few days with Buzz last week. Look at that picture of the guide. He looked even more gay back then...

I will be hunting 20A in the Wood River Drainage in the Alaska range. I am booked for the opener on August 10. I will fly out of Healy on the 7th, and spend a few days to scout. Hopefully find a mature ram and sit on him.

I talked with Dan a couple years ago. The dude is a sheep freak to be sure.
You will have a good hunt. I heard the Chugach range is a real ass kicker.
Oh well, one step at a time will get it done. Go kill a big one!
