And yet, we think the type of camo we wear makes a difference.

DID YOU KNOW: A whitetail can detect human scent up to a half-mile away thanks to up to 297 million olfactory receptors in its nose (compared to about 5 million in humans). Even more surprising: they can sort out individual smells simultaneously — meaning they can smell your breath, your detergent, and what you had for breakfast, all while sniffing the wind for danger.

Some of the best hunts have been with a bad wind after I sweated from working with jet fuel, oil, grease, and other stuff. Deer down wind must have loved the hard working scent.

Use to try and de-scent, cover scent, and hunt the wind.... killed less deer and took more time. Around here you just hunt when you can where you can.

I have a whitetail doe that turned 15 years old this year. She lives within a half mile of the house and seldom leaves the ranch. Since 2013 she has had twins almost every year except for the three years she had triplets. This year I have eight of her offspring or descendants of them all with fawns. The old girl knows either by smell or sight other deer that come in the field and runs them off! Sometimes the intruders are up wind so it must be by sight, she is ruler of the roost!
Sometimes when I go out to move yard sprinklers she comes from the creek bottom to follow me around, of course she knows what I smell like and is looking for a handout. She also knows her name and comes when called, she gets along with our cow dogs too!

Muskeez and daughter saw them last year and Dave N did a few years back.
